💊 A mechanism with several possible applications still needs an evidence package for each clinical claim.
One useful strategy in the ARDD 2026 discussion is to address a clear indication first, then test whether benefits extend to another use. The initial study can inform the next question, but it cannot automatically answer it for a different population or outcome.
For a dual-purpose drug, the expansion plan should be as specific as the first plan: the unmet need, comparator, relevant outcomes and safety evidence. Biological plausibility is a reason to test an additional use, not proof of it.
