🩺 What does GLP-1 research tell us about healthy aging?
At ARDD 2026, Nikolaj Kulahin Roed of Novo Nordisk examined clinical outcomes, observational findings and proteomic signals around semaglutide. The official recap notes that SELECT benefits were consistent across frailty levels, with the frailest participants reporting the largest quality-of-life gains.
💡 He also discussed proteomic clocks estimating a lower biological age after treatment. Those research signals raise useful questions, but they do not establish that a drug extends human lifespan or should be used to treat frailty.
The remaining gaps were just as important: muscle health, sarcopenia, malnutrition and women’s health. Roed highlighted ongoing work comparing hormone therapy, semaglutide and their combination, keeping specific patient needs at the center of the healthy-aging discussion.
