🔬 What can aging companion animals add to translation?
Yuelei Shen brought a cross-species development question to ARDD 2026: how can researchers build a more informative path from an aging-related target to human testing? His presentation combined humanized mouse models and antibody discovery with plans for studies in companion animals.
💡 Shen described a veterinary hospital in China with roughly 3,000 dogs, including about 350 aged animals, and an upcoming test of an anti-IL-11 antibody in aged dogs. That study was presented as planned work. Alongside target-humanized mice, this creates an opportunity to compare what candidate interventions do in different experimental settings. The value will depend on the evidence each model contributes, including its relevance and limitations for later human research.
