🧬 Blood proteins connect distant tissues
Tony Wyss-Coray's ARDD 2026 presentation asked how circulating proteins can both reveal tissue aging and influence cell function. In the mouse work he described, liver-derived proteins such as ApoA1 were taken up by microglia and improved their ability to engulf material.
💡 The talk also introduced BONCAT labeling as a way to follow proteins produced by particular cell types, including neurons, into the bloodstream. Putting those ideas together raises a useful research question: can scientists identify both where a circulating signal originates and how it affects another tissue? The mouse findings provide a mechanistic starting point for studying communication between organs, alongside the presentation's human proteomic analyses of aging and disease risk.

🧬 A blood sample can carry clues from many organs. At #ARDD2026, @wysscoray explored how circulating proteins reveal differences in cell and organ aging. The work connects tissue signals with questions about cell function.
